Transferring book to ereader

I am trying to borrow a book from openlibrary.org via ADE and read it on a Sony PRS-T1 reader.  To set up the software I:-

  • Installed ADE v2.0 and ensured my PC was authorised with my current Adobe address.
  • Re-installed Sony's Reader for PC.

To check the status of the two programs:-

  • In ADE, Help > Authorisation Info shows "This computer is already authorised", and my current Adobe address.
  • With the reader connected to my PC, "Info" shows the computer and reader with an Adobe ID that is my current address.  Also, Edit > Preferences shows the Deauthorise option, which confirms that the reader is authorised.

Steps I follow to borrow a book are:-

  • Select a book in openlibrary.org and click the Borrow symbol.
  • Click Download PDF.
  • The book is then downloaded as an acsm file.
  • Open ADE and drag the file to it.

According to ADE "Getting started" steps for transferring a book to a reader are:-

  • Connect the reader device to the computer.  (I do this, and the Sony Reader for PC screen is displayed.)
  • Launch Digital Editions (done).
  • ADE is then supposed to detect the presence of the device, and show it in the Library sectioin.  This does not happen, so I am not able to transfer the book to the reader.

Any ideas what is wrong?
