Keep the same physical book numbering in digital formats

Is it possible to keep the same paging numbering in digital formats such as tables than from a physical book?   I'm a consultant and my customer want a digital edition software that can keep the same paging numbering from a physical book in any digital format such as tablets or any other format with a different size than the real book.
