Downloaded ADE without an authorised Adobe ID. I have now created an ID so I can transfer books to an e reader but it doesnt prompt for the authorisation?

I downloaded ADE without an authorised Adobe ID. However I now cant transfer e books from the computer to the e reader. SO I unu=installed ADe , created an adobe ID but I am not prompted to used the ID and still cant transfer e books to the e reader. Can you pls help me?
