New Win 10 computer
Installed ADE 4.5 . I had an early version registered on a computer that died.
current password authorizes computer.
I get the following error messages when I try to open an ACSM file (library book)
Unable to download
Error getting license. License Server Communication Problem
E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER
and

I have uninstalled and re-installed ADE, ver 4.51. I have uninstalled ver 4.51 and installed 4.0, but get the error message "Error: Check Activation!" Nothing works. However, only a week or so ago I was not having any problem at all downloading books to my pc. I've not changed any software beyond versions or any pc settings. I've pinged EBSCO about it and they point their finger at Adobe.
I was told by a Nook representative that my Nook device is only compatible with ADE 2.0. I cannot find the download option for 2.0 on the Adobe website.
I have Adobe Digital Editions that was authorized for Books-A-Million. Now I want to download ebooks from a different vendor that uses Adobe Digital Editions. How do I authorize Adobe Digital Editions for this additional vendor?

I created an "Adobe Digital Editions" account and subsequently purchased a few ebooks. The seller sent me links, which when clicked added the ebooks to my ADE account.
I then installed "Adobe Digital Editions" on my PC and ipad. After authorizing these devices, my ebooks were automatically downloaded. Everything worked fine and I could access my ebooks without any problems.
One day something happened and I couldn't open my ebooks on my PC any longer. To try fix this, I thought I could remove everything from my PC and add it back. So I removed the ebooks from my library (right click on each ebook, then "remove from library"), I uninstalled ADE and deleted the content folders under "mydocuments". I then tried to unauthorize my PC but got an error saying "unable to erase authorization please try after some time"
How can I restore my ebooks on my PC?

I have downloaded a book from my local library as an acsm (link?) but when I try to add it to the ADE library in 4.5.7 nothing happens.
I am getting this error and it is frustrating me. I need to access this book for my class and still have not gotten it. I have paid money for it and would like to use it sometime....
I installed this program on my friends computer and accessed the book. At the time, that was the only place I could download the book and read it. Now I would like to switch it to my computer so that I can do my homework and assignments at my place. I have looked and tried and everything you can ever imagine to fix it, but I still get the same error.

ho acquistato tempo fa questo volume e ne ho preso visione più volte, l'ultima questa mattina alle 9:57 come si vede nello screenshot, e andava tutto a posto. Chiuso l'applicazione correttamente, al computer non è successo assolutamente niente. A mezzogiorno provo a riaprirlo e mi ritrovo con questo messaggio: errore di autorizzazione sconosciuto. Non posso aprire il file nè capire di che tipo di errore si tratta, quindi non posso nemmeno risolverlo. Ho provato a fare "cancella autorizzazione" ma mi dice che è impossibile. Ho assoluta necessità di aprire questo file!!

I have downloaded an eBook (acsm file) from the library which opens in ADE but when I try to authorize my new Kobo to access the file, I get a pop up message telling me that I cannot use my existing Adobe ID to authorize a new computer if this same ID was used to authorize other computers in the past. How do I fix this problem?

I am trying to open a .acsm book, this never opens, but will just show "Downloading Content".
This happens in ADE 4.5.7 but when i try this in the ADE 3.0, the file opens without an issue.

Here is an update with an answer to my problem with the error code on the Mac:
I decided to trash ADE version 2.0 and went back to version 1.7.2, which is available at http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions.html. I downloaded the version for Mac on Intel-based computers. Just be sure that you delete the ADE version 2.0 before you download version 1.7.2.
This solved the problem---no error code and the ACSM file downloaded to Digital Editions without a hitch. I was able to drop it in my Nook library and all is well. Thank goodness.

Original problem and question:
I have a new Mac Air and have downloaded the Mac version of Digital Editions 2.0 to my computer so I can download books from the public library onto my Nook. Digital Editions installed without a problem and I can see my library (I have used Digital Editions on my old Mac laptop for 2 years).
However, now when I try to download a book from the public library (ACSM file) on my new computer I get the message "error code E_ACT_NOT_READY." I had no problems downloading ACSM files on my old computer. What is the issue here? Most frustrating.
Should I try to download the previous version of ADE (instead of 2.0)? Can I even download that version to a Mac Air?
I have searched the forums and, while several people have asked about this error code, I have not found an answer to the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

The Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.7 for Mac package is not code signed, which makes it difficult to install. Opening the package on macOS results in the following warning:

I want to use ADE to transfer a book from the library to my Nook. I downloaded ADE and am trying to authorize the product on my computer. It asked for my adobe ID and password which I entered. An error message appears saying that one or the other is incorrect. They are both correct. In fact, I can sign on the the general adobe site using the same ID and password. ?????? How can I resolve?
As of April 10 and 11, the Adobe Digital Edition 4.5.8 download link is still downloading 4.5.7. Why?
